MIT observes 9/11 with … DEI Wellness Day

MIT Sloan School DEI princelings had a good summer. Sitting around the barbecue pit, they asked their spiritual leader Ray Rayguns, “What can we do to justify the existence of our growing staff of overpaid non-productive bureaucrats?”

“Do something nice for the faculty and staff,” he replied. “Without their strident advocacy we’d all be out of a job.”

“I know,” piped up Fiona Furry. “Let’s offer them a spa day!”

“What would be the most appropriate time to do this?” asked Bilious Thomas?

Austin Ashcan offered his somber advice. “To show how serious we take our mission of decolonizing the systemically racist, sexist, Islamophobic minds of deplorable Americans, let’s schedule it on the 22nd anniversary of the death of 3,000 of them. That will really send a message.”

And so it came to pass that on September 11, 2023, MIT Sloan School will celebrate DEI Wellness Day.

“Over the past year, we have been learning from you about your experiences at MIT Sloan, using resources like the MIT Quality of Life survey and our own programs and initiatives, such as RealTalk and the MIT Sloan Office of DEI Pulse Survey. Something we heard from you regularly was that you could benefit from opportunities to prioritize rest and balance during your workday. Now you can! Join us on September 11th between 10am and 4pm to have a massage, try yoga or acupuncture, and enjoy light refreshments.”

Along with these activities, we will offer a Resource Fair from 11:30am to 1pm. Colleagues from around the Institute will be present to share resources and answer questions. Offices or departments represented at the fair will include: DAPER/Recreation; MIT Center for Worklife and Wellbeing; MIT Activities Committee (MITAC); MIT Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response Office (IDHR); Employee Resource Groups including the African, Black, American, Caribbean (ABAC) ERG, the Asian Pacific American (APA) ERG, the LGBTQ+ ERG, and the Millennial ERG; MIT Medical/Community Wellness; MindHandHeart; MIT Office of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical Life (ORSEL); MIT Sloan HR; and MIT HR, Career Development.
