Poor MIT. It only ranks twelfth among its peers raking in the dough from Arab despots, a task more important than ever since MIT stopped taking Putin’s money. (Thank goodness the money from China is still flowing.)

Running a world-class university in the Age of Woke requires a massive administrative bureaucracy, and that doesn’t come cheap. A college president can’t afford to offend its sugar daddies.

Criticizing howling mobs of jihadi true believers, useful idiots, and intersectional fellow travelers disrupting the university, terrifying fellow students, is tricky business. Just imagine what could happen if the committee on discipline actually suspended students who defiantly broke the rules and came back later to mount another protest on the front steps to brag about getting away with it.

Fortunately, MIT’s cabal of far-left faculty stands ready to shift the narrative, putting pressure on our hapless president. As radical feminist leader Sally Haslanger, knows, facts are social constructs so narratives can be re-spun to justify righteous ends. And so, it’s not the pro-Hamas protestors with their bullhorns who refused to disperse when warned, but Jewish students who peacefully complied, that should be disciplined.

It was especially amusing to watch Haslanger weave the right of free speech into her word salad after fighting so hard to block the adoption of a free expression statement at MIT. When you are a philosopher empowered by the belief that “we should avoid an epistemology that privileges reason” because reason is a gendered tool of the patriarchy, anything goes!
