Who hijacked MIT’s Grad Student Union?

Once upon a time graduate students at the world’s leading STEM university, feeling underpaid and overworked, formed a collective bargaining unit. Despite opposition from the administration, they achieved NLRB certification and affiliated with the United Electric, Radio & Machine Workers of America.

MIT graduate students are now required to either join the union or pay an agency fee.

When Islamic terrorists murdered, raped, and tortured 1,200 people, union leaders mobilized for action.

Why? Because expressing intersectional solidarity with freedom fighters opposing white settler colonialism is clearly an MIT Graduate Student Union issue. So is demanding that MIT Boycott, Divest, and Sanction America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. And what could demonstrate your social justice bona fides better than chanting for global intifada?

Where do students get these ideas? You can thank MIT’s extensive DEI training programs, along with virulent encouragement from radical professors at MIT’s School of Humanities, Arts, and Socialist Scientism.

What happened when union leaders got their members out into the streets to express their activism?

After running wild for three weeks, they finally got arrested and suspended. Never mind that their protests were conducted in blatant violation of MIT’s time, place, and manner restrictions on disruptive demonstrations. Punishments aren’t being adjudicated according to union disciplinary procedures!

MIT’s Graduate Student union plans to use all its resources to defend its officers and members against this egregious injustice. Spokesman and highly educated historian of the civil rights movement Austin Cole compared MIT president Spineless Sally Kornbluth to Bull Connor.

Two federal labor charges have been filed by grad students who want no part of this, demanding the NLRB investigate the union’s illegal use of their dues for political activities unrelated to collective bargaining. Oh, and engaging in religious discrimination, but who’s counting.

The Marxist-Leninists at the United Electric, Radio & Machine Workers of America must be thrilled. Because whatever the issue, it’s really always about the revolution.

Popcorn vendors are expecting a banner year as we all watch MIT’s DEI chickens come home to roost.
