The MIT Office of Trans Celebration relies on a deep reservoir of scientific expertise and third-party providers to fulfill its mission. One of the many resources listed on its Trans Best Practices website is the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). This leading healthcare organization recently issued updated standard-of-care guidelines to help treat a wide range of body dysphorics.
A new entry in the rapidly expanding menagerie of genders is the Eunuch, which WPATH valorizes as the “oldest recognized gender outside the binary.” WPATH defines a eunuch as a biological male who doesn’t identify as either male or female and is oppressed by his own genitals. If you are suffering from this ailment, MIT wants you to know that its LGBTQ+ support services can help you find a surgeon that can remove those unwanted body parts.
As the administration rolls out its new Belonging, Achievement, and Composition plan it’s good to know that eunuchs will have a place on the growing list of identity categories to be tracked, a necessary step toward ensuring proportional representation in every endeavor. After all, it’s unfair that the most prominent people without balls at the world’s leading STEM university are the members of the MIT Corporation, the governance authority that is supposed to be providing oversight of this circus.
