MIT’s Task Force on the Undergraduate Academic Program has released its draft curriculum overhaul, and the results are everything Woke Mind Virus devotees could have ordered. The world’s leading STEM university, already honeycombed with SHASS activists and colonized by the $3 million MITHIC Trojan Horse, is now prepared to formalize the conquest in the General Institute Requirements themselves.
The physics requirement, which has obligated every MIT student to complete both 8.01 (Mechanics) and 8.02 (Electricity and Magnetism) since time immemorial, is being cut to one course. The freed-up slot goes, in part, to a new mandatory “Moral and Civic Perspectives” course — under which every MIT undergraduate must demonstrate the ability to “critically analyze their values and their responsibility to other people and the planet.”
The committee helpfully provides a prototype. 21.01: Compass Course: Moral and Social Questions about the Human Condition, offering students the chance to grapple with “simulation games” and “questions of value, genius, merit, truth, justice, governance, and more” — all under the supervision of a baker’s dozen of woke SHASS faculty.
The Institute Lab requirement is also abolished, replaced by a mandatory Teamwork-Intensive course — to be designed with the help of the MIT Dialogue Collaborative and the Center for Constructive Communication, two organs the MITHIC Trojan Horse has thoughtfully pre-positioned inside the gates. The existing anti-racism-saturated Communication Requirement is simultaneously expanded, word-count standards loosened, “visual communication” and AI incorporated. The written word, apparently, is also insufficiently therapeutic.
Presiding over the entire operation is Provost Anantha Chandrakasan, MITHIC co-chair, who traded his intellectual legacy for the management of other people’s values. The task force, he does not add, was heavily staffed by people with no labs to get back to.
