MIT faculty pushes back on mandatory DEI indoctrination

As the president-elect gears up to make war on wokeness and conservative firebrand Chris Rufo heads to Mar-a-Largo for a strategy session with the Trumpster himself, an anonymous survey of MIT faculty leaked to the Beaver shows a majority of those responding ready to pull the plug on mandatory DEI training.

But will the coming onslaught actually put a dent in the large and growing DEI bureaucracy at the world’s leading STEM university, reportedly consuming $40 million dollars a year?

The stakes are high as newly empowered DEI opponents start looking at everything from levying punitive taxes on university endowments to slashing the “overhead” rake-off that bloated administrations extract from federal research grants to outright bans on DEI at any university that accepts federal funds.

As the pendulum swings back from the woke excesses that triggered the launch of the Babbling Beaver two years ago one wonders when MIT’s brow-beaten STEM faculty will become sufficiently emboldened to begin publicly speaking out about the harms they clearly believe are being inflicted by DEI training.

Making their voices heard through anonymous surveys is one thing. But the climate of fear that pervades campus won’t be lifted until DEI critics become as outspoken as radical left faculty members from MIT’s humanities departments that have spent years trying to turn MIT into Oberlin.
