Confidence is waning in many American institutions. That makes it more important than ever that Experts™ step up to reassure the public that Election Science™ can be used to prove that the integrity of our elections has never been stronger.
Kudos to the MIT Election Data Science Lab, which tracks key parameters that reveal trends in election integrity. The good news: MIT’s Election Performance Index (EPI) confirms that election results are getting ever more trustworthy and reliable.
Does this index include the number of states that require voter ID? Of course not! Every person on the right side of history knows that demanding voters provide identification is racist. As our nation embraces more and more new arrivals, making sure that IDs are never required to vote is the best way to save Democracy.
Does this index include the effectiveness of purging voter registration rolls of dead people, or people that have moved away? Of course not! Purging registration rolls has long been a voter suppression tool used by white supremacists.
Does this index track mail-in ballot harvesting? Does it track unverified signatures on ballots deposited en masse by party mules in the dead of night at unmonitored public collection boxes? Or boxes of ballots that appear out of nowhere just in time to make sure the wrong candidate doesn’t win? Of course not! Questioning the chain of custody of ballots or the integrity of those fine citizens helping nursing home residents, the handicapped, and the mentally incapacitated fill in their ballots is a threat to electoral equity. In fact, the more mail-in ballots rejected due to irregularities, the lower that state’s EPI score.
In-person voting with positive ID followed by a finger dip in indelible ink to make sure no one votes twice will never be necessary in a Democracy run by Experts™. Thanks, MIT, for inventing Election Science™, a big step toward building a better world!
