As the backlash against the Woke takeover of America’s universities grows a new advocacy group, FairAdmissions@MIT, is demanding that the world’s leading STEM university cease discriminating against men in undergraduate admissions.
Following the same playbook that Students for Fair Admissions used to convince SCOTUS to ban racial discrimination in college admissions, FA@MIT is actively recruiting plaintiffs for litigation designed to compel MIT to stop violating Title IX’s prohibition of sex discrimination and start abiding by federal civil rights laws as well as its own published nondiscrimination policies.
The Beaver is “Shocked, Shocked!” that misogynist troglodytes refuse to accept the cover story put out by MIT’s admissions office that the reason women applicants consistently enjoy more than double the admit rate of men is because the female applicant pool, though typically half the size, is always twice as good. Of course they are if you measure goodness holistically!
Refusing to be gaslit into accepting the prevailing narrative is a sure sign that you are on the wrong side of history. Gender balancing every incoming freshman class has been MIT’s prime directive ever since the scrupulous Marilee Jones ran MIT’s admissions office.
There is no conflict between diversity and merit. Why? Because we said so! And if you can’t believe an admissions office that is 75% staffed by women reporting to a senior leadership team that is 100% female, who can you believe?
In its own words, MIT Admissions is “looking for the best mix of students who will together constitute a terrific class. And in assembling this class we consider many, many, many factors holistically in our process.” What could be more holistic than ensuring a yin for every yang?
