There is nothing to fear but Woke itself

MIT Climate of Fear

MIT’s long suffering non-Woke faculty continue struggling to come out of the closet. Driven into hiding by a climate of fear created by DEI-infused cancel culture mobs, they have yet to find the courage to establish an organization similar to the Council on Academic Freedom that Steven Pinker and his colleagues set up at Harvard to fight back against the madness.

While progress has been made beating back the swarm of woke mind virus infected social justice warriors, a recently leaked poll indicates that the world’s leading STEM university has a long way to go.

The Pulse of the Faculty is a private, confidential polling facility set up by concerned MIT professors. It is not under administration control and can only be accessed with the proper MIT credentials. Thankfully, multiple faculty members regularly leak results to the Beaver. (Keep ‘em coming!)

This particular poll is a doozy (see above).

320 faculty members, a little more than a fifth of all current and emeritus faculty, responded to the question “Are you concerned about retaliation from any of the people listed below when you speak your mind?

Fewer than a third expressed no concerns – some undoubtedly the source of the problem, confident that the culture they created is serving their agenda. More than a third live in fear of their own students. And a quarter are afraid of the Deans and senior administrators whose disapproval can not only create social problems but can jeopardize research grant funding.

Come on, MIT. It’s time to live up to your rhetoric about Belonging and Community.

Perhaps MIT’s new Vice President of Equity and Inclusion might consider campaigning to alleviate this climate of fear. The process must begin by getting MIT’s sprawling and unaccountable DEI Leviathan and its many ancillary activist training programs under control.
